While designing this Egyptian Slate typeface poster I took into consideration that the typeface itself was designed intentionally with thick, solid serifs at the bottom of the letters. I wanted my design to reflect this unique part of the serif design of Egyptian Slate and chose to do this by adding the dark blue background to the bottom of my design, giving it a solid base. I didn't want this to be the focal point of my poster however, so I used the alphabet in the background to create a texture and I added a large white E to represent the name Egyptian Slate. This design choice creates visual interest and helps to draw your eyes to the focal point at the center of the poster before you notice the body text at the bottom of the poster, which includes: the history and naming of the typeface and the available font licensing and pricing.
